Sand Snake

16 August 2011

This is a Jalla's Sand Snake and it gave me quite a fright!

Leaving the accomodation in one of the lodges at Etosha I was walking down the path and after a quick rustle something sped across the path infront of me. Once my heart rate returned to normal I investigated and found this snake lurking around outside my room.

It was extremely fast when it moved but luckily (although I only found this out later) it doesn't usually attack humans and isn't too dangerous.
