One of my first major trips with camera was to Cambodia in 2004. I only had a basic camera back then but I still came back with hundreds of shots! Starting in Phnom Penh we of course traveled to Siem Reap to see the massive collection of temples and ruins there.
The country is beautiful and the people extremely friendly although is was quite harrowing seeing things such as the Killing Fields and other reminders from the Khmer Rouge/Pol Pot era

This building is on the site of the killing fields where the Khmer Rouge murdered and buried thousands. The building itself contains hundreds of skulls from those victims found so far.

Tuong Sleng was originally a high school. However it was taken over and turned into a prison by the Khmer Rouge in the 1970s. The site itself looks just like the other schools in the area, but barbed wire was put around the school grounds and bars added to the windows. The classrooms were transformed to small cells where prisoners were kept and tortured.
